What arrives
Osita only ever sees the school mail you deliberately forward. Your household gets a private forwarding address; you send email to it, or set your school's mail to auto-forward there. That's the only way anything reaches Osita.
Osita does not connect to your inbox. There's no login to your email, no OAuth permission, no background reading of anything you didn't send. If you never forward a message, Osita never sees it.
What's kept
When a forwarded email arrives, Osita reads it and pulls out the useful parts — the events, tasks, and heads-ups: a title, a date, which child it's about, and a link back to the message it came from. Those extracted items are what live in your family feed, and what we keep.
We keep the minimum needed to run your household's feed, calendar, and reminders — plus your account basics (who's in the household, your devices for push notifications). We collect less on purpose.
What's deleted, and when
The raw email body exists only long enough to be read. The moment extraction completes, the body is deleted from the service that received it. What remains is the handful of items you see in the feed — never the original message.
An honest caveat. To read your mail reliably, Osita runs each email through a background workflow. A time-boxed copy of that workflow's inputs can persist in our processing engine's internal history for a short retention window — currently up to 48 hours — before it ages out automatically. We're being precise on purpose: bodies are deleted when processing completes, and this last time-boxed copy clears within the retention window. We don't say "instantly," because that wouldn't be true.
What we never do
- We never sell your data, and we never share it to be sold.
- We never show ads, and we don't build ad profiles from your mail.
- We never read beyond what you send — no inbox access, ever, on the forwarding plan.
- Our internal diagnostics are body-blind by rule: they record counts, IDs, and timings so we can keep the service healthy — never the contents, subjects, or senders of your mail. This is an enforced engineering gate, not a promise we hope holds.
Your household, your data
Everything in Osita is scoped to your household. Members you invite can see the shared feed; no one outside it can. You can ask us to delete your household's data at any time — see below.
Children's information
Osita is a tool for parents and guardians to organize their own household. Items may reference a child's first name and school activities because that's what school mail is about. We don't build advertising profiles, and we never sell this information. If you have questions about a child's data, email us and we'll help.

Support & FAQ
Need a hand? Email support@getosita.com — we read every message. A few common questions:
What's my Osita address?
When you set up your household, Osita gives you a private forwarding address (it looks like osita-xxxxxxxx@in.getosita.com). It's unique to your family. You'll find it in the app under your household settings.
How do I forward school mail to Osita?
Two ways. You can forward individual emails to your Osita address as they come in. Or, better, set up auto-forwarding in your email provider (Gmail, Outlook, or your school portal's notification settings) so school mail reaches Osita on its own — set it once and forget it. The app walks you through it.
How do I delete my data?
Email support@getosita.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete your household's data. We'll remove your feed items, calendar, and account details. Raw email bodies are already gone — they're deleted when processing completes, and the short-lived processing copy clears within its retention window (currently up to 48 hours).
Does Osita read my whole inbox?
No. On the forwarding plan there's no inbox access at all: no login, no OAuth, no background reading. Osita only ever sees the mail you forward.
